To the wonderful team at Kimihia Home,
Thank you for the care you gave my mum during her time with you. I know things didn’t always go right, but what mattered most was your willingness to listen, to adjust, and to do better for her. That meant more to us than you may realise.
As her daughter, I carried a deep responsibility to make sure she received the very best care. At times that meant I had to speak firmly or raise concerns, but it was never personal. It came from love — the same love that guided the work you did for her every day.
In the moments when we couldn’t be there, you took the load. You showed her patience, dignity, and kindness. Your aroha was evident in the way you spoke to her, the way you comforted her, and the way you treated her as someone precious.
For all of this, and for walking alongside our whānau through such a tender chapter, I am forever grateful.

"To the great chefs in the kitchen, and to all the carers who looked after me. Thank you to everyone there at Kimihia, I got to meet a lot of known Huntly people, and talk to a lot of interesting people. You have a beautiful Rest Home and Hospital. I want to thank Kimihia Home & Hospital staff for the care that Richard received while he was with you. The staff were amazing and could not have done more. Please pass on my thanks to the girls that looked after him so well. Richard is in a better place now and while he will be sorely missed, I am glad that his suffering is over.
